Think about it there are up to 500 billion planets in the milkyway at least 10 billion earth like planets.many have been around billions of years longer than earth but we are observing 0 galactic civilization ,we should be able to see something but there is nothing 🤷♂space seems to be empty and dead.this means something is making a galactic civilization extremely hard,maybe impossible .this is called a ''the great filter''.a danger so hard to overcome that eliminates almost every species that encounters it.There are two scenarios
1,we are incredibly lucky or
2,we are heading for it
1,we already passed the filter ,maybe life is very rare.or our evolution is at it's finest level of complexity
2,once a species takes control of it's planet it's already on a path to self destruction technology is a good way to achieve that,it needs to be something so obvious that everybody discovers it and so dangerous that it's discovery leads almost universally to existential disaster ,it could be a large scale nuclear war,nano technology that gets out of control ,genetic engineering of the perfect virus ,an experiment that fucks the whole atmosphere ,or super AI battle
