The thing is a language issue. The definition of the word "Zefen" is disputed. The common definition among Ethiopians is a song that isn't Christian or that doesn't worship God. But when it goes deeper, it starts becoming something different. Honestly, this has now become more of an opinion issue.
Several Christians believe that non-christian music is alright, as long as it doesn't lead you to wicked things and thoughts. Here's an example, "Montero" by Lil Nas X isn't good to listen to, obviously. But think about other songs that aren't religious but sing about peace, gratitude or loving your brothers and sisters. Christians that have their caution are okay for me, but others that use this as an excuse to listen to the Billboard 100s are definitely wrong!
So we go back to the beginning. Listening to secular music is unsafe and it is wise for a Christian to only stick to worship music. A human has desires and distractions and it is hard to trust yourself to stay away from sinful thoughts.
