What are the precautions you should take as a family when one member has TB ? Please consider all perspectives here as it is a family member we're talking about and discrimination is not an option. 🙏 thanks in advance for your responses.
Jun 05, 2021It's not contagious after 2 weeks of initiating treatment. Till then just make sure the person isolates as much as possible and wear facemasks since it spreads via droplets. In a country like ours almost all of us are already exposed to TB, it's only masked because of our immunity, so don't stress too much. Take the above precautions.
Jun 06, 2021I thought I should answer this seriously tho, a TB patient is rendered noninfectious after 2 weeks treatment, usually. Until then you need to isolate him and reduce contact. Both of you should wear masks. He should cover him self esp. when coughing, and collect his sputum in a material that can be closer, then bury it or flush it down toilet when it fills. You may have been already exposed, so consider being tested (TST, IRA) and Isoniazid prophylaxis... talk to your doctor about this. You should note most of us are exposed to TB and we need something to weaken our immunity to develop the disease (which reminds me is motherfucker tested for HIV?) and if all these seem much inconvenience, the hell with him and shoot him.
