Hey Sister!
I know there aren't many parts of our lives as private as our sexual fantasies.
Before the age of high-speed internet porn, sexual fantasies were rarely brought up in public. Even most couples wouldn’t discuss their deepest fantasies.
There's a reason why we keep this part of our imagination away from others, no matter how close they are to us:
You see, we feel fantasies as something that we really want.
We can vividly imagine how amazing it’d be to have a specific experience and we assume that talking about it would make other people think that's what we want.
Now, the challenging part of revealing our sexual fantasies is that some of them might not be socially accepted things.
Since this is the case, many people ask me how they can get rid of their sexual fantasies.
The answer is straightforward:
You can't.
There's no way to get rid of your fantasies. However, you can manage them.
How do you do that?
The first thing you should realize about sexual fantasies is that they are a normal part of life. We use them to escape from our reality, and there's a reason why we have the ability to do that.
Your fantasies only become a problem when you start making a huge deal out of them and pushing yourself to control them. As you may suspect, pornography contributes to this problem significantly.
You may have a specific fantasy that’s normal and perhaps even healthy. But out of curiosity, you've decided to search for that fantasy on a porn website. Gradually, you find variations of it, and your original fantasy morphs into something dictated by porn standards.
That's the point where your fantasy stops being healthy and starts affecting your life.
You can't find an equivalent in the real world. And even if you could, the distorted fantasy becomes such that acting out on it could come at a high price.
If you want to manage your sexual fantasies, here's a simple exercise you can do:
Write out the price of each fantasy if you’re to act it out in real life.
Keep in mind how your fantasies could affect your future and don't allow your porn addiction to turn them into something unacceptable.
