Why do people make apps specially that have to do with internet in this country. 80% of the country is geter and illiterate. You're targeting 20 % even then how many people are open for new technology probably only the youth which shrinks down the number. So why dont we see more innovation and enterpreneur on agriculture is my question? Do you think its worth a try
Mar 06, 2020Let me get this right, you're asking computer science or software engineer graduates to stop making apps that work online, and instead focus on agriculture. Or apps that work offline. 3 problems with what you are saying. 1. Agriculture is not their field, all they can do is program something for you. If you provide machinery they could program it to do a specific task. 2.(online part) Making an offline app isnt profitable. Most people in Ethiopia arent willing to pay for an app. Unless a company specifically asks them to make an app that the company desires they wont benefit by making an app that works offline. Making apps that connects to the internet generates money for the developers by showing ads. 3. They are targeting 20% of the demographic because most people in rural parts of Ethiopia dont use smartphones.
