With training and nation exam thing U need 10 years

7 years of schooling for medical doctor then 4/5 years depending on the specific type of surgeon you want to be. This is imagining you specialize right after you graduate which is unlikely, cos you would at the least work 1 year before starting surgical training.

2⃣ years preclinical 2 years clinical attachments with cases 1 year internship, taking national residency matching exam, choosing surgery subtype, 4-6 years it would take to specialize. (6 yrs for neurosurgery).
