Apr 24, 2021So Lemme share you what i learned after assasination of Haccalu. The psychology and history of these two people is not the same. Most Amhara peoples consider Ethiopia as a country with single identity. They don't consider ethnic identity as important as "ETHIOPIANIZM" identity. Unlike them, the oromo people consider their ethnic identity (Oromuma) very important. They believe they were marginalized and excluded on the nation building of Ethiopia. They claim were suppressed socially,culturally and politically. As you know Haccalu used to get insulted and and receive threats for his political views. When Haccalu was killed, Many Oromos percieved it as an attack on Oromo identity as a whole. They see it as measure taken by Ethiopian nationalists to reverse the oromo straggle.(Well, I personally think different activists and government officials have played role on worsening the situations.) But after all The killing of the singer shows there exist huge tension between communities.
Apr 24, 2021Since the tplf came to power, Time and time again the Amhara people have been targeted and killed, even though they're the 2nd most populous bher and can use force if they choose to. They've shown patience and good manners. And by having a peaceful protest they show that they want Justice and notHager mebetbet . Also I don't think the oromo people r particularly sirat yegodelachew but rather the people look up to leaders like jawar mnamn who incourage this vengeance and destructive behaviour.
