Dear girls of AAE... Where do you draw the line between a compliment from a stranger vs catcalling? Would you ever receive a compliment about your looks from a random person without being offended? P.S hi I changed my name from ChikoLover cause it didn't really make sense to as many people as I thought.
Apr 18, 2021Its hard to distinguish me personally i would rather not have any compliments from a random person coz i have a bad experience they can get touchy when u dont respond especially if its secluded area so im always wary of strangers as for diffrentiating the way this two are approached are diffrent...for example if u r saying yene konjo or indet abatish abtaua nw mitamrew mnamn specially if u r with a group of ppl its cat calling but if u approached her in a nicer way and said sth like aynish yamral or des tiyalesh without expecting answer or blicking her way and just went abt ur business after u gave ur opinion thats compliment

Apr 19, 2021A compliment to one girl can be cat calling to another so there's no universal "line" gn yaw its a combination of your approach and the situation. generally if u r in a bad neighborhood, or it's dark, or the man looks sketchy, or a grp of ppl r approaching u , or the person talking to u gets in your personal space, or they're calling u while sitting by the side of the road mnamn, anything said in these situations will probably be perceived as catcalling. That being said, if u say sth simple/ not creepy and just keep doing what u were doing, it's a compliment. Lemsale a simple hi with a smile or zare amrobshal mnamn that can be nice. if u stand there and expect a full convo, it turns creepy again.
