Apr 02, 2021Letâs look at the facts here: Ethiopia contributes more than 80% of the nile, weâre building the dam using its own money and didnât even use $1 from foreign aid/loans, the building of the Dam will benefit both Sudan and Egypt as it will remove 86% of silt and sedimentation. Besides that Ethiopia is storing the water in a highland plateau where there is minimal evaporation. Letâs talk about logic now. If you mention Ethiopia to anyone abroad the first thing that comes to their mind is our poverty, famine and drought. Now weâre trying to build a dam on OUR territory, on a river thatâs 100% OURS since itâs still in our territory to boost our economy and electricity supply. I understand Egypt has been using river Nile since the beginning of time but now its our turn to benefit from it. Letâs not forget that Egypt and Sudan use the Nile based on an agreement handled by their colonial masters. Weâre Ethiopians, we were never colonized and itâs about damn time we upgrade our standards.
