Greetings Brother! First of all i would like to apologize for you being mistreated by the officers. Among other celebration, the Timket celebration is a Tourist attraction and Ethiopia welcomes a lot of foreigners who want to take part in this religous ceremoney. However, these days there are many things that are being done by people who have political issues with the current Prime Minister so take this incident as a precaution the officers took and nothing personal. I am a Muslim but if it was a prayer ceremony of Islam I would want the police to make sure all goes well with anything going wrong, I not implying at all that foreigners do just a thing. Again I am deeply sorry for what you have expirenced. I dnt have that much knowledge about the ceremony but they do their prayers all dressed up in a religous costumes, since its Epiphany the priest slashes water on the people. Its also a ceremony unmarried get to choose her partners meaning the young man throws a lemon to the lady he likes then she will take the lemon as an acceptance for his interest.
