Idk about the politics and I don't even care about it at this rate. But about the Inflation there are two types fo causes demand pull (excess demand) due to high gov't expenditure, black money, black market, credit expansion,...and cost push (supply shortage) like power outage, bad weather, high input prices, hoarding and so on. Based on this both types of inflation reside in Ethiopia and accordingly we can take measures like For excess demand - Decreasing gov't expenditure (which is impossible in our current situation) - Decrease money supply - Cutting wages - Credit crunch - Increase direct tax - Increase bank rate - Increase cash reserve ratio - Decreasing the unemployment rate - Expand foreign exchange reserves causing the value of the domestic currency to rise which then leads to decrease in foreign exchange rates making imports less costly,... For supply shortage - GERD will be a great problem solver - Transforming the rain-fed agriculture to modernized and irrigation based agriculture - Try using or producing input materials so as to decrease input cost - Setting a certain quantity of supply a supplier should make during a certain period of time for the continuity of the business inorder to avoid hoarding during excpectation of price fall - use resources well - Increasing tariffs and importa quota so as to encourage domestic producers and discourage locals consumers from purchasing expensive low quality import goods (this is actually a two-way it can decrease and increase Inflation) These measures can be taken for liquidating inflation but not all work 100% of the time it also depends on the gov't policies, no. of suppliers in the country, purchasing power of the local consumers,... Even though some gov't policies and mainly greedy, selfish, uneconomical and uneducated merchants contribute to the cause of inflation we as the local purchasers also play part to the cause like purchasing only imported goods even though they are of a low quality, black money, hoarding goods, destroying supply firms,... Something most consumers and greedy suppliers don't realize is our individual and group actions do affect the whole economy and it doesn't end there it will hit us back. Trade is like a bommerang the more consumers and suppliers get greedy the more the negative consequences will be on the country's economy, the consumers and the suppliers.
