This question bizu gize tetyikual... Obviously its because we are diverse. All kings wanted a uniform Ethiopia where all were Orthodox, Amharic speaking... Which posed a great challenge to whatever hero we imagined in the past. In the present... Well Its mostly because of Social Medias and availability of too much infos and conspiracies. And ofc the issue of racism. Nowadays people dont question they just follow whoever they follow. If their influencer says this is right then it is right.

Alu actually, idk many though. Like Abdisa Aga , Abune petros , balcha abanefso mnamn Gn the kings had a controversial deed coz they were oppressing n doing atrocities unto other nationalities n ppl to fulfil their dreams of having large country. This is undeniable fact although some claim it is meant to be for the better

Because we are a country created not by choice rather by subjugation. The modern Ethiopian map that we see today every ethnic group every nationality had their own leaders and their own sovereign land until they were subdued to be under one ruler. One language one culture no room for diversity.

Maybe the political power leadership heroe is something we all in this country might never agree on even in a democratic country but maybe what we need is an Economical Heroe like: Jack Ma is to China Elon Musk is to USA Nick Hughes is to Kenya
