Dec 11, 2019Here are a few reasons why you shouldn't do it. First it's a sin in any religion. Second there are so many physical and mental consequences that come with it. Feeling ashamed all the time, avoiding eye contact, anxiety, loss of motivation to do anything, decrease in focus are alone of the mental issues. Hair loss, lack of energy are the noticeable physical issues but in some cases like the daily one you just mentioned it can lead to blindness and even worse death. There are so many researches done on this issue try to read some of them. I myself didn't know this until they mentioned it in a movie, I thought it was just scripted but it's really true. Finally some things that can definitely help you stop is to avoid the places where you get these type of thoughts in the first place. It might be the bed or toilet or some other place. Second avoid movies, music or even social medias that can trigger the feelings. Third go out with your friends or family when you start thinking about doing it. And also doing some sort of sport or activity can get your mind off of these thoughts. Going to your religious places helps a lot and I mean a lot. Getting involved in a group or charity of some sort is really great too. These are some of the technique I found very helpful and be strong bro u can do this. And the reward feeling you get by not doing it is a million times better than the instant gratification you get from doing it. Oh and finally I know this was long but something that helped me during the first weeks I tried stopping was saying to my self " 5 seconds of feeling good is not worth the horrible consequences." it instantly got me out of that mindset but sometimes it didn't and when ever that happens just go and sit next to some one at home like the living room or go out and spend long time either with friends or alone at a cafe or public place until the idea disappears from your mind. Lastly playing video games was helpful as well.
