When I was a kid I used to go to church every single day (religious kid) so I learned ge'ez by studying (wudase mariam, mezmure dawit) the trick is buy wudase mariam both in amharic and ge'ez and you can study the translations easily eshi. Although reading ge'ez is different(how you read the words-yemital yeminesa mibal alew- but for the sake of knowing the words buy both books and study) good luck.
