In a way it does. But love transcends Any physical aesthetics. It is not on the mere level of earthly experiences. But don't confuse it with your state. You are "in love", you are driven by emotion and hormones. Mostly initiated by physical attraction and closeness to a person. That's why I said it matters at the beginning.
Being in love ( or falling in love) is dictated by feelings ( some say it is a feeling by itself) and no feeling is relied on to last its full intensity, or even to last at all. It's like a profound state of excitement that fuels your body continuously. Who would bear in that excitement for even a year? what would become of your work, your appetite, your friendships?
But, of course, ceasing to be ' in love' need not mean ceasing to love. Love in this second sense - love as distinct from 'being in love' is not merely a feeling. It is a deep unity, maintained by will and deliberately strengthened by habit; reinforced by the principles that are bestowed by the sanctity of monogamy.
So identity where you stand. All will be in place when you come out of this state. The outcomes of your decisions will be clearer. You might move forward and attain love (which requires immense responsibility from you and your partner) or you might not.
Have patience and let time do its thing.
