I do agree. Slavery isn't the sole reason Africans are struggling. (Oxford University was founded in 1096 A.D., 600 years before slavery) I think one of the reasons is that the African environment is generally nurturing and that the Africans never really had reasons to dabble in advanced science. Proof for this can also be found in areas like Papua, New Guinea where the people still live sustainably in tribes. They never had reasons to try out new things because what they had was sufficient.
