Hey everyone, I’ve been seeing a lot of tension on TikTok lately between West Africans/FBA and the Horn (Ethiopia/Somalia/Eritrea). It feels like there’s a push to 'Bantufy' our history and calling us racist just because we want to preserve our Cushitic/Habesha lineage and marry within our culture. Has anyone else noticed this forced unity or people trying to claim our history as Bantu? Where is this coming from? Bantu: This is a major linguistic group that originated in West/Central Africa (around modern-day Cameroon/Nigeria). Thousands of years ago, they migrated south and east. Most people in Central, South, and Southeast Africa (like Kenya, Uganda, Nigeria, etc.) are Bantu. Cushitic/Ethiosemitic (The Horn): This is a completely different branch called Afro-Asiatic. Ethiopians, Somalis, and Eritreans are indigenous to the Horn of Africa. Our ancestors didn't come from the Bantu expansion; we have a distinct lineage that has been in the Horn for over 10,000 years.
