Oct 05, 2019Hey. Nerd and cool are not mutually exclusive. Now that we've got that out of the way let's be honest with each other. The good news is, you've identified your problem (well part of it). That's very important. And you also want to fix it. That's good. You want to talk about tech. That's great, you should. But understand that conversation is a two way street. It's about listening as much as talking. Listen to the other party, ask questions. If you don't do those I can guarantee you the other party is gonna get bored. But, I'm sure you already know that. And who said you need to talk about only the tech. Yeah, it's a good thing to be knowledgeable on one subject but don't limit yourself to it. Talk about what's on the news, about the people around you, what you're currently listening to, what are you watching, why you like those stuff. And one last piece of advice, it doesn't really matter what you're talking about you can make anything interesting (especially tech, there so much interesting stuff there). A simple thing you can do make a topic interesting is, talk about your experience with it, how you discovered it, wher your passion for it came from, what did you do about it, why you like it etc. And keep in mind these things: talking is good, talking too long is bad. Listening is great, asking questions is even better. One sided conversation will get boring quickly. People may not be interested in what you're talking about but they'll be interested in you. A little confidence (even fake confidence) will help a long way. Okay, this is getting too long I'm gonna stop it here, hope this helps.
