what do guys think about software engineering ? is the degree any good assuming thee degree holder is a good programmer ? is it at a risk of being replaced by ai ? who hires software programmers ? and is cs a better degree to have ?
Feb 05, 2026I can't say what AI will do in the future but it's crazy to think that it will replace software engineers if you ask me. Although you can become a programmer without going to college thanks to free online resources, a degree is good to have because some companies might ask for it. There are software companies in this country now so you can get hired in one of them or you can do freelancing on platforms like Upwork. I became a programmer without a degree and I don't know if a cs degree is better but I would choose CS because it requires fewer years of study

If u r kinda copy-paste programmer, yeah, u will be replaced by the good ones, not by the ai
Feb 05, 2026The person with the skill, not the degree is better than both. You will be hired by your skill not your grade and degree, and you can learn that by yourself after joining which ever one.
