As a Software Engineer, i encourage you to join it but it doesn't matter whether you join Software Engineering or Computer science or IT, what matter is the dedication you will have to learn on your own and become a Self thought Engineer. so don't stress aim for any tech field related to computers and you will get there by your own, Let me know of i can be of any help.
