Sle breast cancer, kind of urgent.. How much is it to have breast cancer examination? How is the process? How much time does it take? Are the doctors usually females or do we have to specify that? Does clinics have it? I know a place around 4 kilo behind abrehiot library that give it, what’s the name of the hospital/clinic there if you know it? Ena is it good? Lastly, any place recommendation and why. Thanks

Oct 28, 2025Continued... Lastly, Recommendation: If your plan is to do the whole thing in the private sector, do a good research about the cost, before you start a treatment. Ask doctors, stuff like that. If you change your mind to go to government hospitals, in Addis there are only 3 hospitals that do chemotherapy treatments; St. Paul, Black Lion, and the recent one Yekatit 12. Idk much about Black lion's oncology dep't, but from what I've heard, you shouldn't go there. Anyways, to get into any of the 3, you would have to have a refer, and you don't get to choose the hospital(that depends on the subcity that you live in, or the residence of the clinic/hospital that writes the refer). For the examination: CT-scan= varies from place to place, and sometimes type matters too. But, mostly 10,000-11,000( I'd recommend Girum Hospital) Biopsy= again it depends, if sample is taken in private clinics there will be a fee( but, idk how much it will be) For the actual test the range is 5000-10000 ( in most cases). All things considered, since it's a breast one, it's going to be easy, don't worry too much, you got this. As much as possible, Educate your self about your condition, so that you won't be kept in the dark through out the process. I’ve been hearing a lot about breast cancer lately so I thought it might be a sign and I should get a checkup. Do you think I should or am I clear, if there’s no tumour like thing? I mean it’s so expensive for just a check up.
Oct 28, 2025If your plan is to do the whole thing in private clinics/hospitals, it might be costy(depending on the cancer and the treatment). I specifically don't know about the hospital that you are talking about. However, the procedure is mostly the same. They will have to check if the tumour is malignant or not, to do that they will need to do a biopsy(in most cases). Malignant= cancer tumour Even if they won't have to take a biopsy, to check if it's malignant or not, they have to know what type of cancer it's, and to do that they will need a biopsy. So, biopsy is almost an inevitable procedure. The other thing is, they will have to know if it's at metastatic stage or not, so you will definitely get a CT-scan. If they confirm, the tumour is malignant( meaning it's cancer), and after they know what type of cancer it's, they will decide what kind of treatment would be appropriate, and the treatment will start depending on the type, stage and the current situation of the patient, with the consent of the patient being considered. About the female doctors, I think in the private setting, it's possible to ask for the doctor that you specifically want. But, in government hospitals, it's unlikely to happen. And as far as I know, cancer cases are above clinical levels. But, this is not a confirmed info, so check for your self. For the biopsy: Unless it's a rare case and there is a newly opened spot, once the sample(from the tumour) is taken, any kind of cancer related biopsies are done only in one place in Ethiopia, that is Oncopathology(around St. Paul Hospital, on the road from pastor to Piyassa, it's very close to the pastor roundabout) If the, clinic/hospital that takes the sample(does the procedure for biopsy) tells you, that they will do the biopsy by themselves/that they have connections, it's okay, you won't have to go to oncopathology, but this is also rare.
