Aug 29, 2025If this happened I long period of time. It's not gonna be fixed even if it does it'll fail. And if thus happened due to water damage don't even think about it. But you can disassemble it and clean the cable pins with isopropyl alcohol, most of the time it gets fixed but from my experience it's temporary and it'll stop working

Aug 29, 2025AI Overview To fix a non-working PC keyboard, first try a simple reboot or check the physical connection. If that fails, try cleaning the keyboard, testing it on another computer, or reinstalling/updating its driver via Device Manager. You can also try the Windows Keyboard Troubleshooter or check accessibility settings. 1. Restart Your Computer A simple restart can resolve temporary glitches and allow the keyboard to reinitialize. 2. Check the Connection Wired Keyboard: Ensure the USB cable is securely plugged into the computer. Try a different USB port. Wireless Keyboard: Check if the batteries need replacing or recharging. Make sure the wireless receiver is connected properly. 3. Clean Your Keyboard Turn off and unplug the keyboard. Turn it upside down and gently shake it to dislodge crumbs or debris. You can also use compressed air to blow out any stuck particles. 4. Test the Keyboard on Another PC Connect the keyboard to another computer to see if it works. If it works elsewhere, the problem is likely with your original computer's settings or software. 5. Reinstall/Update the Driver Right-click the Start button and select Device Manager. Expand the Keyboards category, right-click your keyboard, and select Uninstall device. Check "Delete the driver software for this device" if prompted. In Device Manager, click the Action menu and select Scan for hardware changes. Windows will reinstall the driver. Restart your computer to complete the process. 6. Run the Troubleshooter Go to Settings (Windows key + I). Navigate to Update & Security > Troubleshoot > Additional troubleshooters. Select Keyboard and click Run the troubleshooter. 7. Check for Power Management Settings Open Device Manager. Expand Keyboards and right-click your keyboard's entry. Select Properties, then go to the Power Management tab. Ensure the option "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" is unchecked.
