I turned 22 when I dropped out from campus and went abroad to start a new degree program two years ago. Now I will start my 3rd year of the bachelor’s program after two months. If you ask me what my biggest regret was… it wasn’t dropping out and starting all over again. It was thinking at the time I was too old and imagining myself to appear even older for my age. Listen up please don’t make the same mindset mistake I did,it caused me so much mess and mistakes even after going abroad. Don’t worry about the age or how you appear to others. The main question should be: is this the right decision? Is this decision likely going to place you in a better life 3 or 4 years down the line? It’s not just about getting a degree. Even if you remain in Ethiopia and get the degree, it doesn’t mean things will work out for you right away. It might take time to progress in your career and settle. Going abroad opens up doors for you, not just academically but also in other aspects. But it depends on the country, the school, the field, your personal situation, so many factors you need to take into consideration. Age should not be one of them!!!
