People who are atheists, what do you believe in? What are your values and norms? What's your purpose in life? I'm asking because I read something like "Atheism teaches pride Christ teaches humility."
Aug 02, 2025As an atheist, I try to do good because I actually want to, not because I’m scared of hell or hoping for some reward. I don’t lie, steal, or cheat because I think it’s wrong, not because someone told me I’ll be punished. When I was religious, I used to feel anger or hate toward other beliefs. But now I don’t care what people believe as long as they’re not hurting anyone. Atheism isn’t about hating religion. It’s just not believing in a god. And I’m not trying to convince anyone to become an atheist. That’s not what atheism is about. People can believe whatever they want. I don’t wait for some higher power to fix my life. I work hard and do what I can to move forward. Most atheists I know are logical, curious, and want to understand how things really work. I became an atheist after reading religious texts and seeing that a lot of things didn’t add up for me. Atheism doesn’t tell me what my purpose is. It doesn’t give you one. My purpose comes from my life, how I grew up, my environment, what I’ve been through, and what I care about. And that’s fine. Everyone should figure that out for themselves. Atheism doesn’t teach pride. It actually reminds me that I’m not the center of the universe. That’s why values like kindness, honesty, and fairness matter to me. I try to be a decent person because I think that’s the right thing to do.
