"Hey everyone, quick question — is it really possible to become a good programmer through self-study, without going to university or formal courses? If yes, what would be the best way to go about it? (e.g. resources, projects, habits). Would love to hear your experiences or advice. Thanks!"

It is really achievable but also needs your attention in customizing the environment of learning, since self learning rely on ones time, attention in learning environment, getting feedback on how it is going, and overcoming deprecating thoughts. Best way to go(my thought): - Habit : focusing, patience, learning through building and showing up on program(schedule) -resource : documentation ,youtube(10-30min videos),chatgpt Projects : start from basic to dos, simple games or static views then build up on it. Experience:i tried to teach my self and have made so many researches and tool courses on learning how to learn in order to teach my self programming . Project is king and vibe coding won't get you anywhere try to use ai wisely and Please make sure your environment is ok for learning ✌️
Jul 07, 2025Pls as you said if you are experienced tell me about how should i start?
Jul 07, 2025Honest answer it is possible but it needs a hella commitment. Like its so depressing road to go. Like u might lose ur social skill, feel lonely, and u might not even have friends to chill with like its very frustrating journey. Plus with this ai era may god be with u.
Jul 07, 2025That is also the best option too. Ma friends In university they got many certificates, they built so many projects they have participated in many competitions before they join to the university. The Answer is you can and that is urgent best option unless it comes to getting actual work opportunity
