Yes, they really do care about the girls out there who go through their daily lives facing insults and abuse. It’s a matter of how they measure their response to it. You may think they’re unhappy in life, that they lack something — a man, a relationship — and that they’re just bluffing, trying to show off, not because they truly care. But they do care. They’re struggling against violence in the way they believe is right.
You say, “I care about women — my sisters, my mothers...” But what have you actually done for them? What have you done about the violence they face? About the abuse they endure every single day — at their workplaces, bus stations, government offices, private companies, on the streets... even in their own homes. Abuse from neighbors, relatives, random men on the road, their own bosses. From teenage boys lost in their adolescence to older men who think it’s okay to flirt with girls young enough to be their daughters. From the wealthiest to the poorest, from the highly educated to the illiterate — it happens across every group.
And these are just the smallest examples. You don’t know what it takes for a girl to complete her university education safely without being harassed — I’m speaking from personal experience. You don’t know how many women out there are forced to stay silent after facing abuse, after being raped.
The real question is: these women are out there struggling, right or wrong, doing what they can to fight these violations. But what about you? What are you doing that you believe is right?
