Okay, as an Orthodox christian, this is what i can say; Yes, zefen is a sin. Gin what exactly are we referring to? Anything that isn't Yaredawi? In this case, this only applies to the EOTC, so it'd be a sin to listen to other orthodox church songs. Is it anything that doesn't glorify God? If so, even yezeginet kibir will be a sin. Fukera, kererto will be a sin too. I have shallow knowledge about what likawent say about this, but most just say any zefen is a sin, gin i also heard that it depends on theme of the lyrics. So i think songs that glorify women's(or men's) beauty, songs that trigger lust, or songs about lust are a sin. Apart from that, songs about country, unity or showcasing culture, i don't think they are. Gin imo, i think it's better to not listen to songs at all because it's hard to find a distinct line cause maybe in the name of culture, there is lust etc.. plus, even the instrument used in a song alone make you feel something else. In general i think it's better if we restrain from listening to songs on purpose, since it's hard to stop completely because it really became part of our daily lives.
