May 19, 2025Before diving in to your questions a brief glance into Judaism is in order. In early Judaism, Satan is nothing like the monster Christianity paints him to be. The book clearly describes him as an adversary in a heavenly setting. Notice that he tests Job's faith for the purpose of proving his flaw not just to sway him to the other side for his personal benefit, there was no such other side in the minds of Jews at the time. Satan had a role sanctioned by God, not against God, which is contrary to what Christians think today. 1) It makes no sense! And how a Christian who thinks the devil to be the worst possible creature, somehow finds a cherishable lesson in a Godly human's unimaginable anguish, which as it turns out was all for nothing, shows you the hypocrisy of religion. What make it more intolerable is that these people sincerely believe that a man called Job truly existed, he really suffered and that his children if fact died. They actually don't drool over such minor details and go on to praise God for awarding Job with new ones. 2) A fanatic overlooks crimes like genocide, infanticide, murder, rape and more when God sanctions them. This is not being a moral absolutist, this is the definition of bias, the fruit of indoctrination. So I find the rest of your questions not worth the effort, since there is no reasoning that could justify the barbarity in the bible, and since there is no real structure to the morality derived from it.
