If by eternal life you mean immortality, where one is ever young and able, I believe in due time he will accommodate himself with the changing world and enjoy his life. Progress never ends, he could be a teacher, a leader, at the fore front of everything, a history book and a visionary, he might even be the last man, that is something. But if you are imagining a religious eternal life, I think a year might just be enough to drive you mad. I think it would be like living in a church, imagine your leisure activity being worship, no work, no adversity, no sex, no purpose other than worship. Boredom will be too soft to describe this life. Although some religions imagine entertainment, haha. Even for this brief time, we need freedom, a sense of responsibility, and purpose from within to devote to, this is what makes our lives worth living, in heaven we might as well be sentient robots, objects. We aspire, dream of being better, better salary, better car, better wife, haha. But we know we can't be God, so in his presence for eternity we will be so dulled, we will be no different than chairs or tables. If there is suicide up there, it will be through the roof. And how long will it take to get used to the fires of hell 10 100 1000, eventually we will, then we go back to being objects thrown in the ice and fire, we might perhaps after millions of years miss the agonizing sensations, and how sad that would be. Reincarnation though seems tempting, living as a wasp, a cow, a man, a woman haha, a lion, a deer, a fish, if this cycle was never ending and assuming we retained every knowledge of our past, we would be able to see life in a wholesome manner and appreciate everything. But I prefer immortality out of all these, and if ever possible it to non existence, and non existence to all the rest.
