I love seeing such mindsets!! Instead of asking them for money, this is the best of leveraging their existence abroad. 1. Ask them to buy you a subscription to AI tools, if they are willing to pay monthly. Only get a premium if u actually need it. For eg for coding…etc. For a casual usage, free version is enough. 2. If u are going planning to freenlance on Upward , u might to buy some connects for application i guess, idk the current situation. They might buy u connects.

I also think buying connects for you on upwork is a good idea. But upwork doesn't support other people buying connects for you unless you do it with your name. So first i would say it is better to have your own payment system setup first like paypal or payoneer under your name. Research on reddit about online work and different payment systems that work in Africa. Research and make sure about your path before asking them.

There are jobs that do not accept Ethiopians specifically programming and AI training roles. Most other remote jobs from Europe and America also exclude applicants from Ethiopia or Africa, even if you have the required skills. When they do accept applications, the pay is often lower. To bypass these restrictions, what you can do is use their phone number, location, and, if possible, a matching profile to apply for those positions.
