Imagine this: some guy rapes your daughter and kills her. You completely lose it. You find him, track him down, and kill him. Now, I KNOW what the law says. You can’t just kill someone because they did something horrific. But forget the legal textbook for a second. Lawyers here....if you were my lawyer, would you actually stand there and defend me? Would you fight for a lighter sentence, or would you tell me, “I’m sorry, but you crossed the line”? And judges… honestly, could you look at a parent who just lost their child in the most horrific way possible and sentence them like any other murderer? Would you give the maximum sentence? Reduce it? The moral position and z level of cruelty are not the same in every offence, and even our legal system sometimes struggles with these human complexities.
