Islam is a religion of justice and mercy, not violence and killing, as some falsely claim by misinterpreting verses out of context, whether out of ignorance or deliberate distortion. Responding to such accusations must be firm and based on clear religious texts, history, and logic. Allah says in the Holy Quran: "Whoever kills a soul unless for a soul or for corruption in the land, it is as if he had slain mankind entirely." (Surah Al-Ma'idah: 32) This verse establishes a great principle: killing an innocent person is equivalent to killing all of humanity. So how can anyone claim that Islam commands indiscriminate killing? And listen to this "There is no compulsion in religion." (Surah Al-Baqarah: 256) This is a fundamental principle in Islam: no one is forced to convert to Islam. So how can Islam be accused of ordering the killing of non-Muslims? You should know that Allah commands Muslims to act justly and kindly towards non-Muslims who do not fight them: "Allah does not forbid you from being kind and acting justly towards those who do not fight you because of religion and do not expel you from your homes." (Surah Al-Mumtahanah: 8) If Islam orders justice and kindness toward non-Muslims, where does the claim that it commands their killing come from? Some verses that mention fighting are related to defensive war, not aggression against others due to their faith. "Fight in the way of Allah those who fight you but do not transgress. Indeed, Allah does not like transgressors." (Surah Al-Baqarah: 190) This verse is clear: fighting is against those who attack Muslims, not against innocent people. In the Prophet Muhammad's biography, he never killed anyone simply for being non-Muslim. Instead, he made treaties with Jews and Christians and treated them justly, Some take this verse out of context: "And when the sacred months have passed, then kill the polytheists wherever you find them." This verse was revealed in a specific war context between Muslims and Quraysh polytheists who broke treaties and attacked Muslims. If Islam truly commanded the killing of all polytheists, then they would not have been allowed to live peacefully under the Dhimmah system, which granted them rights and protection in Islamic society. Anyone who claims that Islam commands the killing of non-Muslims is either ignorant of its teachings or deliberately distorting them for a specific agenda. Islam is a religion of justice, allowing war only in self-defense or to repel aggression, not because of religious differences. If anyone insists on this false claim, let them bring a clear Quranic verse that commands killing a person solely for their religious belief, they will not find one because Islam never permits such an act.
