I mean absolute no offense but why do our muslim brothers get offended when called "ወስላ" and Ormo "ጋላ"? I searched alot but couldn't find no meaning😐 if there's no meaning, why bother anger? Thanks in advance.
Jan 25, 2025Short answer: those are derogatory terms. You wouldn't call an Oromo 'Galla' from a positive angle. As you wouldn't refer to Amharas 'Qomata/Komche lemagn' positively. Historically, Ethiopian society has quotes and sayings demeaning the people. Example "Galla Kimal bela" etc. It's no surprise Oromos don't like to be called that, so just don't it isn't that difficult In today's world, most people wouldn't call you these terms directly to your face unless they're in their region or hiding behind tiktok comments.
