What is your view on victim blaming victims of gender based violence? For example, when a woman is raped, and the first questions that arise are 'where was she?' ' Why was she with him?' 'Why did she trust ?' ' Why wasn't she cautious enough?' And so on...
Sep 16, 2024As some studies have shown most of the SA in cities could've been prevented if she was more cautious. For example staying late at parties , then being drugged etc. And people take this data to blame the victims. But in reality , most of the SAs happen outside big cities (geter akebabi weys ye kilil ketemoch) but more often than not these cases are not "reported" due to the culture of "impurity". As a guy who've lived in both big towns and country side, I can conform that these assaults are present in small towns and villages. So to answer your question: the reasons that society , specially men and elderly women blame the victims of SA are quite complicated and mainly related with religions and cultures. So as long as you start questioning religions cultures , these "victim blamings" are here to stay.
