What does it mean to have free will? Aren't people's choices just a product of their inherent nature and their experiences? For the former, they aren't responsible at all. For the latter, you could say that some of their experiences are a product of their former choices which bring us to the former problem of choices again. I'm not saying people shouldn't people held responsible for their actions since that would just would bring chaos. I'm questioning what other factor decides what you choose beside your memories and natural instincts
Sep 16, 2024I'm one of those who have leaned into that Idea after listening to a lot of brilliant arguments on the non existence of free will. Every single thing can be attributed to our biology, Evolution environment and things we have yet to understand. The first thing that comes to peoples mind when arguing for existence of Free will is that we make Decisions. But no one wants to talk about the complicated layers of things that MAKE us make those decisions. All good and bad decisions. This thinking doesn't lead us to stop making ourselves and others responsible cause that's also another complicated conversation, but it makes us learn deeply why we do what we do and As whole about us.
