I am the last person eligible to answer this , since I have never been in relationship before But, lemme try I think etymologically they pretty much have the same meaning.... But the society uses them differently Like you can say "እወድሻለሁ" to your mom,sister , friend or gf/wife. But you wont say አፈቅርሻለሁ to any one of them except for your gf/wife
