For starters, the text isn't an Islamic text. It's trying to give islam a bad image by inferring things without any context. Islam doesn't allow slavery !!! It is the first religious text to admonish and abandon it !! As for the above text , Islam didn't come to a vacuum. The prophet Mohamed was teaching the belief in 1 GOD and way of life to Arabs that lived in the desert that had a different way of life. The people there before the teachings of Islam used worshipped Idols bury their daughters a live , buy, and sell slaves. Islam came to that society and changed their way of life. The prophet Mohamed had been through a lot because the arabs at the time wanted to preserve their way of life. They waged wars against him for his teachings. The prophet taught them the way of life step by step, they are people, you can't just go there and give them rules to live by or else they are doomed. They changed their way of life from that to islamic way of life. Even on the text, he was admonishing them on why they did that. He is the prophet, so no one would do anything he has admonished next time. For context, it was a war. The other party at the war was doing what the prophet told his followers not to do in wars. Infact slavery was a common practice at the time everywhere in the world. Islam abandoned slavery as a way of life. In the early times of the teachings Westerners who practiced other religions were the main traders of slavery until almost 300 years back. So yeah, we don't do slavery, infact we taught the world to abandon slavery by being an example to others

Allaah is Most Wise in the laws that He decrees for His slaves, but this wisdom is only apparent to those who seek it and believe that Allaah is All Wise, and looks at the interests that are served by the laws of Allaah which no man can see unless he ponders the matter, especially when there are those who attack those laws because they go against what they think are right and wise. With regard to your question about it being permissible for a master to be intimate with his slave woman, the answer is that that is because Allaah has permitted it. Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning): “And those who guard their chastity (i.e. private parts, from illegal sexual acts) 6. Except from their wives or (the slaves) that their right hands possess, for then, they are free from blame” [al-Mu’minoon 23:6; al-Ma’aarij 70:30] That is subject to the condition that he has acquired her in a proper manner, and that this slave woman has not been given by her master in marriage to another man to whom she is still married. The reason why this is permitted is that this slave woman belongs to him, either because he has paid money to buy her or he has fought for the sake of Allaah (and acquired her among the war booty).
