Green infrastructure is a way of using nature to help make our cities and communities better places to live. Just like how we use buildings, roads, and other man-made things to create cities, we can also use natural things like trees, plants, and parks to make our cities nicer. For example, imagine a big rainstorm. Usually, all the rainwater goes into drains and sewers that take it away. But sometimes, the drains and sewers can't handle all the water, and they overflow and cause flooding. Green infrastructure can help with this problem by using things like rain gardens and bioswales to capture the rainwater and let it slowly soak into the ground. This helps prevent flooding and also helps plants and trees grow. Green infrastructure can also help reduce air pollution, cool down cities during hot days, create habitats for animals and insects, and provide spaces for people to relax and play. So, it's a way to make our cities nicer and more sustainable by using the natural world around us.
