To trust is not to know, rather it is to have the courage to take your chances. That said, one is encouraged to make analysis before decision. However; one shouldn't be biased to any of the two sides too soon. In your case, you already don't trust it. I know it's a lot at stake, but I recommend you make your decisions based on data rather than decision. That's easier said than done, but I think it's the better thing to do.
