Nov 25, 2022Okay, I'm gonna be honest with you. If you ask me if it's possible, I believe it is. Anyone who would tell you it's not is only talking from their experience. But there's a first time for everything. I am a medical student. I just became fifth year, and I started taking a CS course three weeks ago. And the only reason I am doing that is because I am taking minor courses for a few months. But the fact that many of us couldn't do it doesn't mean you can't do it either. But it is going to be very very hard. So I want you to consider two things. First if u have any opportunity, go to medschools and look at the second year and fourth year students for a week or so, shadow their life, their routine and ask your self if you are willing to put in that much effort and much much more to learn CS on the side. Second, I want you to ask yourself why u want to persue the two fields. Is it because you love them both very much? If it is so, it's good. But, I highly doubt that. There's this culture in our country that if your a good student, academically, you should join medical school. And it's because there are no great engineering schools (the education is shitty in many of the universities), I get that. But trust me, it's not worth it. If your heart is in programming or SE, persue that, and become an outstanding programmer. If your heart is in medicine, persue that. It may not pay well, but if u love the profession, at least u may enjoy it. But you shouldn't make your decision based on the outcomes. Rather, you should go and watch people in medschools, and those learning SE in AASTU or smt, and know what it takes before you make ur decision. Even if u can't do it now, u have one year in campus before u choose ur department, so u can observe their lives then. But remember, the fact that it hasn't been done by anyone, doesn't mean it cannot be done. There's a first time for everything.👍
