Am trying to choose field and I think am more suitable with psychiatry. So how can I learn this field do I have to specialize in it after learning medicine or can I just learn psychiatry? And why are most of u guys saying public health(HO) is bad ?

Sep 23, 2020Psychiatry is not currently given at undergraduate level, but Axum university gives psychiatric nursing and then you can learn psychiatry. It is often said that HO is bad because the work they do can be covered with nurses with a minor training, but the health sector development plan of our country underlines the importance of health extension workers and HOs. The thing is an HO graduating from now on will be forced to work In the rural areas with low facilities and workers, because the health sector in the urban areas are already starting to train nurses to replace HOs and the HOs are given work in the rural areas, where they are really needed. Sep 23, 20201 join other health then choose psychiatry 4 yrs then u can do yr sec degree msc in psychiatry around 2 yrs but you are not called Dr by name. 2 join medicine 6 to 6.5 yrs depending on the university then specilize in psych 3 yrs. Before that think if u r realy interested in it.
Oct 01, 2020You can learn psychiatry in undergraduate I know Adigrat University gives it. Idk much but psychologist can also specialized in psychiatry, anyways try all those ways if you really want it.

Sep 23, 2020Well a health officer is paid around 5k n u work in a geter tena tabiya, but if u find work in NGOs the salary is better. And trust me when I tell u any health related field is bad interms of the payment n the workload, but if u have z passion n u can't see urself in z future other than a health professional, u should go for it. And U gotta learn medicine to specialize in psychiatry.
