290We hv 2 holidays Eid al-fitr &Eid al-adha We don't even take first day of the Hijri/Islamic calender as holiday But if you ask me "are there muslims that do celebrate Enqutatash?" Yeah there are even "muslims" that celebrate Easter and epiphany. For those of you who think that the Ethiopian new year is not religious, what de you even call the year like 2013 AMETE MIHRET which is all about christianity and its teachings about the original sin and salvation of Jesus.

In their scriptures there is no such thing forbidding them to celebrate the New Year... However some strict muslims do not celebrate the new year as they unknowingly or misguidedly think that it's a religious holiday and as such is forbidden by God even though there is no evidence in the holy quran of such a rule #Sensei

Yes we muslims don't celebrate new year cuz we follow prophet mohammed (pbuh) and he told us we have only two holidays eid al fitr and eid al adha.(i think it will be an answer for the person who says there is no such think in the quranπ) yup we don't even celebrate "mewlid" . But some do . +as my sister told you before she mentioned about "amete mihret" ketesasatku armeghn . It means eyesus legna sil teseklo mihret ageghnen malet aydel. So don't you think this contradict with islamic teaching . And also there is this thing like 'zemene yohanis','zemene lukas'....and yes there are some muslims who celebrate .but that doesn't makes it right
