I hope I am not late to answer. To answer your question, it depends on what you want to focus on. Personally I do some reverse engineering where stuff like assembly, C, and C++ are required for you to know what to do. If you are planning on doing stuff like maybe hash cracking and software exploitation it would be best to know to some extent, other stuffs like OSINT don't really require you to that much programming let alone C++. It all depends on the amount of exposure you will have to computer source codes. Some time you might need to program stuffs yourself in which case you could use python.
