Hello, Are there any tech startups/companies in AA? What are they? Where do people with CS and Software engineering degrees get employed? It kind of feels like they always end up unemployed or doing trivial software maintenance for companies.
Mar 15, 2022Yes there are startups in tech in Addis and they are a lot in number too ( as they keep on rising in quantity) . and as for where do people with these skill sets get hired ... it depends on your interest and most importantly your skill set as the field is diverse some chose to specialize on backend development or full stack , AI , Data science there are different paths you can take. As for the unemployment, the salary you might get as a junior software engineer might not be as satisfactory (which is the case for many professions in Ethiopia anyways) but you can always do freelance even with out the degree ( perks of the field) sooo as long as you have a good foundation and a good skill set it is one of the most in demand field right now and a good foundation and skill set doesnt mean knowing html and css and some c++ here and there No! read more and keep yourself updated with the tools that are being used in the market these days kalhone YES there is a good chance you might end up doing trivial maintenance work for some company.
Mar 18, 2022you nailed it man! many companies and startups hype S.E and C.S but it actually is the same as other jobs. like any job it has small employment. most people realize that when it is too late. if you want to know how the market looks like check out freelance ethiopia channel. see how many experience they are asking and for the money they are asking
