Hey, I don't know if my question is normal or dumb anyways I want to know everything in the journey of a doctor you know starting from freshman to officially being called a doctor, all about being med student, internship, residency, how many years whatsoever and the residency thing how you get the hospital? We chose or the uni does? How many years do we study solely in uni before setting a foot in a hospital? Everything and explain as if you're explaining to a toddler, thanks!
Feb 11, 2022Med student here so lemme share what i know. Yes, there is freshman couse in almost all med schools idk if itll be there next year. After premed, theres 2 years of preclinicals, where u learn all the anatomy physiology etc. U dont go to the hospital but u most lilely will work on a cadaver(a dead body that has been preserved) Keza clinical years, idk how long they are together theyre 2.5 years or so i think. U learn how to round, how to manage patients, how to be a doctor. Internship is where u apply the knowledge amd really test the waters cause youll have very long shifts and be expected to read and educate urself too. Right after graduation u need to take a licensing exam. Total is 6 to 7 years depending on the school. Ahun its mostly 7. Keza atleast 2 years of work experience is expected from u so u can apply to residency. Also youre expected to pay off ur med school cost sharing debt by this point. And u take the ERMP exam, and based on ur score u get into the residency and hospital u choose. Like ende uniersity mdeba So 2-2.5 years before a med student steps foot into a hospital
