Protestants specifically reformers believe is ' sola scriptura' and ' tota scriptura' . Sola scriptura means scripture alone and tota scriptura means the whole scripture not only a piece of it . And the main difference is in believing ' sola gratia' Grace alone. Man is saved according to grace[ which is free gift of God] not by his good deeds and merit . Man has nothing good in him to stand before God. Man is terribly defiled and corrupted. In Catholics though they believe in baptism of infants and other non biblical creeds and practices . They believe in good deeds can make man alive and can give him a favour from God . It is an opposite to what the scripture has told us . Man in his sinful nature is an enemy of God. How can an enemy will entertain or attract you when his intentions is to eliminate and destroy you ...? You will get many differences from the History of the Church .
