Aug 07, 2020Well it's a clear violation of the federal constitution. The federal constitution is interpreted by the house of federation. And the HF has decided to postpone the general election due to the pandemic. Yes, states can conduct their own elections,but they can't do so if it contradicts the federal constitution (interpreted by the HF). I can see two possibilities in the near future. 1. A Supreme Court decision against the election followed by a military intervention 2. The federal government withholding Tigray's budget. I think the second one is a more realistic and likely scenario.
