In connection with what the channel admins are warning against above (imposing a kind of blasphemy law).. what do u guys think of blasphemy laws? Should religious ideas receive a free pass on discourse and debate in the name of being offended if too many questions are asked? Does it impede or help the progress of society as a whole? Because despite it not being an issue here in our country, i think it will be in the years to come
Aug 07, 2020great question man....seriously it's timely, top notch and incites discussion (unlike the rest of the dumb ass questions). Personally I think we should stick to religion is personal and if discussions should be held, it should be held by the people that practice that religion instead of outsiders. The reason I say this is b/c every religion makes no sense to a follower of another religion. They will always find loopholes, criticisms and pass judgment. But they do that from the perspective of their own religion, thus making them biased and with every religion stating that it's the only correct one, this bias is hard to breakthrough. So the best way to move forward is to take it out of public life and public discourse. Anybody can practice whatever religion he/she desires and can even discuss it within it's own religious community but it must be limited to that community and it must never trash talk, incite violence against or belittle other religions. At least that's my two cents.
