The required documents vary from University to University. But the following are the major documents
required by most Universities.
1. Certified copies of an academic degree or high school certificate
Almost all universities require soft or hard copies of your credentials. Certified copy refers to copies of
your documents certified by an authorized institution. The institution that certifies the credentials depends
on your countryās rules. However, itās usually advisable to certify your documents at the university/school
you earned the diploma. In some countryās the public notary or the institution that you are working on can
also certify a copy of your documents.
2. Reference Letters
Getting a good reference letter is challenging but most universities request such letters. Some universities
require scanned copies while others prefer the original reference letter. Some others even made it
mandatory for the reference letter to be submitted electronically by the referee to the university or to be
sent through the post directly by the referee.
3. Motivation Letter
It is one of the most valued parts of your application documents. Itās advisable to write an honest and
genuine letter that shows your interest to study that specific program as well reasons for choosing that
particular university and country.
4. Copy of your identification documents such as ID, Driving License or Passport
5. A sample Essay/written work
Most universities value applicants with a published article or unpublished well-written essay- as it
demonstrates your academic ability to join the study program you are interested in. Since undergraduate
applicants may not have a published essay, you can submit your project work or assignments done at your
school.
These are the major documents most universities require. However, some require more documents while
others need less. So you should check the documents needed before submitting your application to any university.
