Congratulations. You have made a good choice for your entertainment. Welcome. I will give you a brief introduction into your long journey to becoming an otaku. Basically there are 3 kinds of anime. 1. Long running 2. Short running 3. Seasonal releases Long running animes are well, long. They tell deep and extended story over many many episodes, hundreds of episodes at the very least. The characters in these anime grow with you, sometimes literally. Eventually you start to understand their feelings and you get obsessed with the complex story. I admit some of them are riddled with cannons and fillers that run for like 50 episodes but in my experience they are worth it. Some popular names are Naruto with 720 episodes, Bleach with 366, One peice with over 900 episodes, Fairly Tale with over 300 etc... Short running anime are stories that are usually kept to the point and focus on particular people and events as opposed to building a universe. They are fun but in the grand scale of things they are hit and miss. They span like 12, 25 sometime even 60 episodes. Some are really really good and some not. Popular names are Death Note,Cowboy Bepop, Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood etc... Most that people have seen fall in this category. Seasonal Releases are those that are released in the conventional way as opposed to running all year round. Big names fall in this category like Attack on titan, One punch man, My hero academia etc ... If you are beginning I suggest you start with a short running one. You can start getting used to how anime tells a story as opposed to how Hollywood does with is very different. Besides you don't have to make a commitment before you get to the juicy part. If you were to start with something like Naruto you have to watch like 120 episodes to get to the good part and another 200 to get to the core of the story. Personally I started with Death Note. It really grabbed my attention and opened the door for me. Yeah and finally you might wanna check wether you wanna watch it subbed or dubbed.
